Flight dynamics se viditelně nezměnil. Pro běžného konzumenta ani není co měnit. V ATC přibyla možnost během letu zažádat o IFR či zažádat o jinou RWY pro přistání (nicméně s reálným provozem to nemá nic spelčného). In built AI Traffic je stejně stupidní jako u předchozí verze. Z letadel snad stojí za zmínku jen přítomnost B-777 a virtuální 3-D klikací kokpit. Vizuálně jsou největším přínosem 3-D mraky, ale musíš mít slušný počítač.
Jiná situace je v oblasti Add Ons: Active Sky V se hodně přiblížil realitě, co se týká vlivu větru na letadlo. AI Smooth je super utilitka, která se dokáže vypořádat s "nevhodným" chováním AI letadel (a to i u komerčních programů typu UT či MT). ATR-72 od Flight1 patří ke špičce komerčních letadel a např. firma Fly Tampa se naučila dělat pěkné scenery s minimálním dopadem na FPS.
Nicméně, pokud nehodláš kromě FS2004 investovat do komerčních add ons, počkal bych pár týdnů. Microsoft, tedy jeho FS tým, slíbil účast a každoročním setkání FS developerů (a jiných příznivců), které pořádá Avsim v září a obecně se očekávají informace o FSX:
AVSIM is pleased to announce that Microsoft's Flight Simulation team will be in attendance at the AVSIM Convention and Exhibition in September. MS will both exhibit and present papers and provide a question and answer period to attendees of the paper session. It is anticipated that the MS team's presentation will be approximately two and half hours in duration and that the Q&A session will last another hour or so. The team will also attend the Friday night social and are anticipated to attend the awards banquet on Saturday night. This will be your opportunity to speak directly to the MS Team Members, and spend some quality time with your fellow enthusiasts. AVSIM will be posting more detail on the MS presentations in the coming weeks, but we can tell you that the over all theme of their presentation will be "An Inside Look at MS Flight Simulator".
